Our Mission
The purpose of the Dance Competition Team is to broaden the dancers’ experience and introduce them to the world of professional dance that goes beyond weekly classes. This is done through performances in the community, master classes, conventions, competitions and workshops. All these experiences help the dancer grow personally by developing dedication, focus, and appreciation for the art of dance. It also encourages dancers to work at a more advanced level. Our Dance Competition Team competes 3-4 times a season. Competitions are adjudicated and dancers are encouraged to strive for excellence in their art rather than competing against other dancers. Competition also teaches dancers to work as part of a team and helps them understand what it takes to be a successful performer.

Competition Team Information
MDA Studios Competition Dancers are an audition based line of classes for students ages 7-18 who seek a more disciplined and challenging atmosphere.
New Competition members are selected through the audition process. If a student is cast in one or more of our Competition Performance classes, they are given the option to accept their placements, but are required to take Ballet Technique and Competition Core Class if they wish to perform in Competition that season. Competition members can mix and match any techniques, other than ballet, with recreational classes.
All member will be required to sign a contract that will be discussed in detail at our Contract Meeting on Wednesday June 29. During this meeting the requirements of participation, schedules for the year, and acceptance letters will be discussed. It is encouraged that the dancer and one family member attend this meeting to fully understand the commitment and privilege it is to be a part of this team.
